Area: Central Eastern Kenya

English

Located east of Mount Kenya, with an area of 870 km2. It has a variety of habitats, through forest, marsh and savannah, watered by 15 rivers flowing from Mount Kenya to reach the Tana River.

This park is famous because here was returned to the wild Elsa, the lioness of Joy Adamson's book "Born Free".

Meru is not as popular as other parks in the area, making it an ideal place to enjoy the sense of freedom and tranquility of nature.

We may observe in Meru prehistoric baobabs, the unusual palm Dum, which has branches, and fauna should be highlighted among elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, black rhinoceros and some rare antelopes.
