This lake is one of the few freshwater, with an area of ​​about 170 km2 and is the tallest of all the lakes of the Rift Valley.

It is home to over 340 species of birds and its waters can contemplate numerous families of hippos, plus numerous herbivores on its shores.

The attractions of this lake, in addition to its breathtaking views and landscapes, with an extinct volcano on its banks, and its birdlife, are the boat trips that can be made to Crescent Island, where walking safaris are conducted and you may observe a few meters zebra, giraffe and vervet monkeys, among many others.

Also in its southeastern shore the Hell's Gate National Park where it is possible to make safaris to walking and cycling, being possible to forget for a moment the rattle of the engine. This park also has a population of vultures nesting on cliffs, Lammergeyer.
