This park is a gem of many facets, with its 137 km2, offers the opportunity to explore a wide variety of habitats within a few hours.

The entrance leads to a forested mountains inhabited by blue and colobus monkeys.

In the middle of the forest is the Ngurdoto Crater, whose vertical walls surrounding marshland where buffalo, warthogs and zebras live. In savanna areas we can find large groups of giraffes. In the soft grassy hills, lies the serene beauty of Momela Lakes, each a different shade of blue or green, tinged with pink spots of flamingos. Lakes held a variety of local and migratory birds, giraffes, zebras, dik- diks and other species.

It's not often spot elephants, and there aren’t lions, but you can find hyenas and leopards at dawn and dusk. At this time is when we also have better views of Kilimanjaro, free of clouds that cover it. However, the skyline overlooking the park is Mount Meru, with 4.566 meters which is the fifth highest peak in Africa.

In this park bushwalking, picnics and expeditions to Mount Meru are common.
