Vaccines needed for a safari

Vaccines needed for a safari

Many of you wonder us about the vaccines needed to go on safari to Africa before travelling. Some of you see yourself like a sieve, leaking everywhere, but quiet! It's not a big deal.

Where can I be informed about the vaccines needed to go on safari to Africa?

We won't give any recommendation as it's responsability of the Ministry of Foreign Health. You can check the International Society of Travel Medicine to find any closer center. Here you will be informed properly, because sometimes these issues change from a few days to others and what is true one day is no longer the next month. You can call for information and they'll give you an appointment. You will be informed of some aspects and recommendations when travelling and on mandatory and recommended vaccines.

What are the vaccines for a safari in Africa?

  • Yellow Fever: it usually has no side effect and you have to take it at least one month before the trip. They will give you the International Certificate of Vaccination, a yellow book you have to carry at your travel, as sometimes is requested at the airport.
  • Typhoid fever and malaria: they are usually pills to be taken before or during your travel.

  • There are other recommended but not mandatory, such as hepatitis A and tetanus, which depend on each person and what your doctor recommends.

Some people are afraid of needles, fear of disease or just don't like going to the doctor. All these are simple preventive measures and aren't so much as looks and... All worth it to enjoy a dream vacation on the African continent, surrounded by the incredible wildlife that inhabit their land. Hakuna Matata!
