Ballooning in Masai Mara

Those who have tried a balloon ride over the plains of Masai Mara agree that is an indescribably wonderful experience. We have never met anyone who has made a balloon safari and has been unhappy. This should be a sign that the adventure well worth it.

If you have in mind to do this activity soon, we are going to tell what you would do. Although of course we couldn't even approach our words to the reality.

The balloon flight day, the safari vehicle will collect us in our camp at about 5 AM. Yes, you read that right! Watch the sunrise from above is something that deserves an early start! Probably when they pick us up, there will still be other travelers to collect at their camps, so we have the opportunity to see more accommodations and a mini night game drive, Be very attentive!

At around 6 AM we will arrive at the launch site and can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while we watch the baloons being prepared for take-off. We will meet our pilot, who will give us a safety briefing as well as explain what we can expect during the flight.  

 We will be loaded into our balloon basket for take off just before sunrise, at about 6.30AM. The flight lasts approximately one hour and the balloon will land between 7.30 and 7.45 AM.

The live experience is infinitely more exciting, but here you are some images that you may be ready to stay with your mouth open. Huge herds of zebra and wildebeest under our feet, endless plains, amazing landscapes, the Mara River in all its magnificence …

Upon landing, we can observe the complete deflation of the balloon envelope. But our adventure doesn't finish here! The safari vehicles will transport us a hort distance to breakfast. The breakfast is set up on the savannah plains of Masai Mara, under the shade of a single acacia tree. We will sit down to a full bush breakfast in the Kenyan style, complete with eggs, fresh juices, waiters in traditional Swahili attire and, of course, champagne.

Everything is so well prepared that we have even a toilet in the middle of the savannah!

Also during the breakfast we can see the photos your pilot has taken during the flight as well as some other items from the company. Your decision to buy or not.

After breakfast, at about 9 AM, we will have a game drive back to our camp. Depending on what we find along the way, the game drive usually takes about an hour and a half.

So, by 10.30 AM we will be back at camp, already reliving the memories of the amazing morning flight.

A balloon safari over Masai Mara is one of the most expensive experiences in Masai Mara, but if you can afford it, we assure you will not regret.
