It is an alkaline lake that extends over some 50 km. Around the lake you can find some great examples of baobabs, one of the most striking trees that are in this area of the world.
This area is inhabited by small groups of Bushmen tribe, the Hadza and Watindiga, who are hunter-gatherers. Men work as hunters with bows and poisoned arrows, and the women gather roots, tubers and wild honey combs. Also populate these lands Datoga.
The visit to these tribes is one of the attractions of the area, it is also an ideal place for bird watchers.
