Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, as well as being the main port in East Africa. It is located on an island connected to the mainland by several bridges.

Mombasa is protected by its valuable coral reef, and when the tide is low you can walk over it and see cucumbers and sea spiders, sea stars, etc. It is perfect for diving and snorkeling as well as to see thousands of colorful fish, turtles and dolphins. Near the city of Mombasa we can go to Diani Beach, amazing for its white sand and 25 km. long, Shimoni, Likoni and Tiwi, where we can go visit Kisite, a marine park near the border with Tanzania, by dhaw, traditional boat of the coast.

There is a variety of accommodations in Mombasa. Some of them are:

If we continue the coast to the north, we find that is said to be the best beach in the country, Bofa Beach in Kilifi. This beach is not so touristy and you will only find local fishermen. Diving enthusiasts can have a good experience here, as there are caves on the seafloor in this area. Also in Kilifi you can find the Mnarani ruins, mosques and tombs dating from the fourteenth to seventeenth centuries.
