Crescent Island, where you walk with the animals

Crescent Island, where you walk with the animals

Today we want to talk about one of the great unknowns of Kenya, Crescent Island Game Park. It is located on Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley and is one of the most beautiful parks in Kenya. It is surrounded by the water of the lake, but it really is a peninsula, which is also accessible by road.

The best thing about this park is that you can make a walking tour, so we you walk among the animals and that is a very special activity.

On its banks we find especially pelicans, cormorants and fish-eagles. Given its environment, many film companies take some scenes here of wildebeest, waterbucks, zebras and gazelles. The park isn't fenced to allow wildlife in and out of the island at will.

Hippos go out of the lake at night and graze or sleep on Crescent Island. We can find also giraffes, impalas, dik dik, vervet monkeys and hyenas that go hunting there at nights. Also you can find groups of buffaloes and some pythons.

On the island there is a hill where you can see stunning views from Mt Longonot to Hell's Gate.

A walking tour in the island is recommended with a guide upon reservation. The price for this safari is $30, and is paid when you access to the island. Any ride on Crescent Island that anyone want to sell elsewhere is not official and is not performed in the safe areas of the island.

It is one of the visits that can be done in the vicinity of Lake Naivasha and from Hisia Safaris we recommend it a lot. See wildlife on foot, walking among animals, the trails of the park, where biodiversity and nature are its major hallmarks, is a wonderful and enriching experience.
