Hisia Safaris, the journey of emotions

Fly to Africa

Fly to Africa

The first step for a good safari is to search our flights. Sometimes we think we have to choose between price, comfort, quality ... Can you have everything on the same flight? Sure, let's try it!

Where do we fly?

The first thing to know is where we are headed. If we are going to fly to Kenya, the arrival airport will be the Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO). However if we are travelling to Tanzania, we have two options: Arusha Airport (ARK) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Normally flights to Kilimanjaro are quite cheaper.

What to consider when choosing a flight?

We have several criteria when choosing our flights, although this depends on what every traveler is looking for. Usually, these are the most important points:

  • Flight price: we all are interested in the price. The lower the fare, the happier we are! When we see a good price, and other aspects of the trip are also good, we should get it as soon as possible, as on these flights the price change in a minute.
  • Flight duration: perhaps the cheapest flight is the one that takes 25-30 hours to reach its destination. Sometimes it's better to spend a little more, remember that the most valuable thing we have is our time.
  • Arrival / Departure flight: if we want to avoid the stay on the first night in Nairobi / Arusha because what interests us are the parks and safaris, we should catch a flight that arrives early in the morning (before 9 AM) and that allows leave directly to our first safari destination. This is a good thing for people who rest during the flight. If instead you can't sleep during the journey, it is advisable to arrive by the evening, and go straight to rest and leave the next morning to your first safari destination with charged batteries.
  • Stopovers: typically, at least we have to make a stopover. And we also like to have only one at most. That is, there are also cheaper flights that have 2 or even 3 stopovers. Usually, these flights takes longer to arrive as hours are lost on the stopovers. But what to keep in mind is that the more stopovers, the more likely you are to lose one of the flights. It doesn't have to happen, but the possibility exists: we miss the time, we are not in the correct boarding gate ... etc. Therefore, for us, a stopover is ideal. Sometimes, if it is a large-stopover (over 8 hours), we can even take the opportunity to know the city where we stopped!
  • Reliability of the airline: it is also important to choose a reliable airline, that normally has no delays, not changing the day or timetables, which doesn't usually lose luggage ...
